Percent Off Calculator
See the final price after any percentage discount — and exactly how much you save — before you get to the checkout. Add a second, stacked discount (like 'extra 20% off sale items') to reveal the true final price, because two discounts in a row are not the same as adding them together.
This is the Black Friday and clearance-season companion: type the tag price and the advertised percent off, and know within a second whether the deal is real.
How to use
- Type the original price of the item.
- Enter the discount percentage — the sale price and savings appear instantly.
- For stacked sales, enter the extra discount to get the true combined final price.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate 20% off a price?
Multiply the price by 0.8 (that keeps 80% of it). For example, 20% off $50 = $50 × 0.8 = $40. The calculator shows the same result with the savings spelled out.
Is 30% off then 20% off the same as 50% off?
No. Sequential discounts multiply: 30% off then 20% off leaves 0.7 × 0.8 = 56% of the price — effectively a 44% total discount, not 50%.
How do I find the original price from a sale price?
Divide the sale price by (1 − discount). A $40 item sold at 20% off came from $40 ÷ 0.8 = $50.
Does the calculator include sales tax?
You can add the tax rate to see the final out-the-door price. Tax normally applies to the discounted price, not the original.
